For those of us coming from WoW the best way to describe the Chanter is to think Discipline Priest. He can heal many typical situations but mostly offers very vital raid buffs. If you played a Bard in EQ and enjoyed it this may very well be the class for you. Much like the Cleric, the Chanter can do some decent melee damage when necessary, either for soloing or assisting the DPS in a raid. They are able to equip a shield and mace if needed.
PVP as a Chanter is interesting from what we’ve seen. They are able to put out enough melee damage to slowly bring down their opponent but due to their ability to heal and absorb damage they outlast many fights in 1v1.
